Energy Salon: Navigating Energy Demand and Policies Amidst the AI/Data Center Boom

The rapid expansion of Artificial Intelligence is placing unprecedented demands on energy infrastructure. These demands are forcing a re-evaluation of current energy and related carbon mitigation policies in the US, Europe and elsewhere.

The U.S. is expanding its natural gas capacity to meet the immediate energy needs of AI data centers. Tech giants are finding it difficult to secure enough energy in the short term to power these centers. In response, the U.S. South and Southwestern states are competing to provide sufficient energy, as well as land, faster permitting times, and reliable grid access.
Meanwhile, AI itself is already being used to optimize grid capacity, interconnection, and energy use.
In Europe, the EU faces the challenge of regulating the energy demands of AI while also working to reduce CO₂ emissions. At the same time, they must avoid stifling innovation or pushing key AI providers out of the European market.

In this Energy Salon, industry experts will discuss the policy, legal, economic and infrastructure elements it takes to develop AI datacenters and secure the energy to power them quickly, referencing successful projects in the Southwestern US States. The Energy Salon is intended for a select group of interested developers, VC or investors, stakeholders, and tech companies in need of datacenter capacity.
