Living Legends: Andreas von Bechtolsheim
Thursday, November 6, 2025 (6:00 PM - 8:30 PM) (PST)
Description
We are honored to welcome Andreas "Andy" von Bechtolsheim to kick off GABA’s Living Legends of Silicon Valley series—an evening that promises inspiration, insight, and a rare glimpse into the mind of one of Silicon Valley’s true visionaries. Known as a co-founder of Sun Microsystems and an early investor in Google, Andy has helped shape the modern tech landscape with his forward-thinking ideas and relentless drive for innovation.
Born in Germany and educated at both the Technical University of Munich and Stanford University, Andy's journey from a curious engineering student to a pioneering entrepreneur is nothing short of remarkable. His work at Sun Microsystems helped define the era of network computing, and his later ventures—including Granite Systems (acquired by Cisco) and Arista Networks—cemented his legacy as a technology trailblazer. Along the way, he has advised and invested in dozens of startups, helping to launch the next generation of innovation. In 2013, Andy received the GABA Award of Excellence
In his presentation, Andy will reflect on the pivotal moments of his career, share stories from the early days of Silicon Valley, and offer his perspective on the future of computing, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Whether you're a student, founder, engineer, or simply curious about the forces that built today’s digital world, this is a rare opportunity to hear from a living legend.
Light refreshments will be served.
We thank our host and sponsor:
